Additional cast process stock (1.5mm) was required on inside of the oil drain bosses located to the outside of the water jacket in the 917 part. This was to prevent leakers once the oil lines were drilled at the machining plant. Unfortunately, this makes the core very thin in this area & the core room has difficulty at times making cores because they will crack. With the new casting locating scheme & the revised equipment for drilling the oil lines at the machine line, it is felt that the part is more capable & the risk of leakers in this area is significantly reduced. Therefore, remove the 1.5mm process stock to eliminate core make issues at the plant level.
