Broken 823 waterjacket legs are an issue for racks rejected at assembly and flow test casting rejects in finishing. ?Modify 823 A6 definner with the attached changes. Add second outside leg detail and locate it lower on definner to profile the leg while core is at the most engaged position in the definner. Also remove detail stock under brush. ?Through testing we found water jacket leg strength to be consistant coming off of the core machine.(provided CM cope/core strip is level). It can be shown that pulling the wj out of the definner off level on one side will result in the opposite side foot to break. The goal is to modify the definner to still capture the fin profile of the core and be more forgiving while removing the core from the definner.
