Defiance is seeing shrink/porosity in HPOL area of head casting. Magma simulation predicts this defect as well. To eliminate defect Defiance wants to add riser geometry to feed a boss on HPOL. Based on Magma simulation, Dan Metzger states: 'The predicted porosity is significantly reduced compared to the base line results. FSTIME still shows some level of pinched feeding, V48 shows a little more heat predicted lower in the casting that may explain why v52 still shows the small indication of porosity and v48 doesn’t. The feeding provided by the riser in v52 looks identical to v48.' (v48 was geometry that predicted elimination of the predicted porosity, however was not easily tooled for testing)
