Per TEMP CT07783 & 7796, AG updated design to prevent aluminum leaks between base mold tower insert and pour bridge. Update has been implemented into molds 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, & 9. Defiance has not had a reoccurrence or any additional issues due to change. Implement this change as Permanent into the production mold design data set. History: - Inspection @ Defiance 061317: Identified potential for aluminum leak from chin strap risers into SHCS counter bore holes on top side of base insert.  Counter bores are slightly underneath pour bridge and if they were to fill with aluminum Defiance could have casting ejection issue.  Additionally, the CAD design of base mold insert as well as exhaust slide insert is out of date to latest riser geometry (see pictures).  Suggest adding machining to base insert to install solid vents to cover SHCS.  AG to update base insert to latest riser geometry. - Inspection @ Defiance 061317: Identified a 4.3mm gap between pour bridge and base insert.  If aluminum were to significantly leak across top core to base mold insert parting, it could flow under pour bridge across top of base mold insert & even over to top of slides (see pictures).  The would definitely cause casting eject issue and potential issue with opening of slides. – Need to investigate if this is a concern.  Would require revision to tool and CAD design to correct. - OP100 @ Defiance 071817, mold #5: On the 8th cycle, aluminum got under the top core and ran down under the pour slide. This caused the casting to stick in the mold during extraction. Could not remove large chunk of metal on the pour end. Mold 5 was taken off the line and sent to the pattern shop. Pattern maker added high temp silicone to mold #3 to deter the issues from today of aluminum getting under the pour end.
