Currently when combustion chamber heights are adjusted permanently, the (4) contact pads on the bottom must either be machined down to drop chamber or welded and re-machined to raise chamber. This makes each CC insert unique between each cylinder position and each individual mold set. If a CC insert needs replace, one can not just be pulled out of stock and installed. The bottom contact pads of CC insert must first be adjusted on a mill, which may involve welding first, to achieve the correct height for the corresponding mold set & cylinder position. This is time consuming and added cost. To eliminate the need to modify the chamber inserts, install grind spacers under each. Grind spacers can be keep in stock along with the common CC inserts. If a chamber height needs adjusted, one only needs to remove insert, Blanchard grind a new spacer to size, re-install insert, and validate. Additionally, if a CC insert cracks or wears out, it can be removed and replaced with a new one from stock, then validated as the height will already have been set by grind spacer beneath it.
