Defiance was unaware that the bench side couplers were attached to molds when shipped. The molds were placed in the mold prep oven with them attached. End result was gasket included with coupler being destroyed. Researching CAD, it was found that design calls for an alternative gasket than supplied with coupler. Coupler includes a Buna-N material gasket (pn# 75-G-BU). Design calls for PTFE encapsulated FKM (TEV) gasket. Anderson Global provided the Buna gasket seal instead with each mold. 1) Since smoke pipe coupler includes a Buna-N gasket. Revise design to include this gasket as a reference only component with arrangements to suppress & unsuppress it. 2) Current CAD geometry for coupler is not correct. It shows finger rings which are not supplied with ½” – 1” Dixon couplings. As seen on slide 1 of actual couplings, they are not present which match the following Dixon drawing. Remove finger rings from CAD design. 3) Threads in coupler CAD model are applied to incorrect hole as well as the wrong size. Delete existing threads and add ¾" NPT to correct hole. 4) Revise Coupler & Gasket file descriptions and material specs to: AWS28967 COUPLER CAM & GROOVE, TYPE D, FEMALE 3/4” NPT, DIXON VALVE OC: 75-D-BR BRASS AWS28975 GASKET CAM & GROOVE, ENCAPSULATED, 3/4”, 1-3/8” OD, 7/8” ID, 7/32” THICK, DIXON VALVE OC: 75-G-TEV TEFLON ENCAPSULATED VITON, MAX TEMP 200 DEG F Lastly, the location of bench side couplers and gaskets as well as Staubli supply plate assembly are at incorrect level in CAD design. They should be reference only as to not included them in mold tool BOM. They are not typically purchased/included with each mold. They are only required on initial program startup, not with additional & replacement molds.
